Background
Consultus were commissioned by University of Leeds in August 2022 to support metering requirements for a new site located close to the University’s Bodington Playing Fields, which was to become an impressive sports facility set to include three full size LED floodlit 3G Football Turf Pitches (FTPs), a four-team changing pavilion with community café, meeting space, and parking facilities.
The Challenge
Bodington had a requirement for a new supply of a Half Hourly meter with a capacity of 240 kVA. Consultus worked very hard with all parties to meet the needs of the customer. The supply was needed to go live on the 1st September 2022 to enable necessary testing to take place. This was a time critical project with industry standard timescales for metering at this time being in the region of 6 to 8 working weeks.
The Solution
Consultus had to work fast to ensure the meter was installed in time for the opening, and so they quickly began making enquiries with the distribution company to obtain key information. Once all of this was in place, all necessary applications were raised. Contracts were proactively chased and obtained, and the industry flows were expedited with the supplier and Meter Operator to avoid any delays and to ensure the client’s deadline could be met.
Following expedited fast tracking of flows, Consultus liaised with the meter operator and expressed the urgency of the situation. Requests were made for metering to be included on the same day as two other metering jobs for Leeds University on the 1st September 2022.
The Outcome
Due to the established working relationship with meter operators, Consultus were able to obtain an urgent appointment to complete the installation. This was well within industry usual timescales and enabled the necessary testing to proceed and in turn assisted meeting the deadline to open the facility. The customer was incredibly happy with the outcome and fed back that Consultus provided them with total confidence to deliver a fast solution.
